Class 2 Ships are in the making

We sarted modelling the class 2 Ships/Fighters.Here's an early WiP shot of the Panvara class 2. It might remember on an east european Airplane.... ...so wings in space... why? Have you ever thought of "flying" on a planet? ;P Because of atmosphere and aerodynamic-physics, wings are important. Sure in space we're drifting and boosting from A to B... no problem for our ships... Hybrids ftw :) So here it is : Panvira Class 2 (SlideShow)

I was a bit worried about the wings at first, but if this is planned to be an atmospheric ship, then it makes more sense. How 'realistic' are you planning to make ships? Or more properly, how much thought is the team putting into the 'physics' (real or not) behind the construction and purposing of ships? I ask, because my favorite space sims generally put a LOT of thought into exactly how and why everything in a ship, and everything related to space flight, operated. It helped to make the simulation that much more believable and realistic.
Checking in...
Actually posting this from my trusty 12" PowerBook G4 at the beach... Sorry guys am out of the office for a few days doing family stuff.. But it's a well needed break.. I am still working, but also having the odd hard earned Mojito by the sea... :) DocBungie has put a lot of thought into the types of ships and their roles in ArcNebula. We have also collaborated on some pretty special capital, cruiser and special purpose craft which have large scale effects on planet systems and all will be revealed on those very soon... As for controls of ships I am experimenting with both propellant systems, Newtonian physics and various types of drive systems. These will be available in various forms in ArcNebula, and engine modules will be able to be purchased, or "acquired", and my plan is to model them to the appropriate design and capabilities of Doc's models. We have quite a complex ship component system, which is based on the architectural design of any ship and ultimately controls what it can do, and what it can have added to it, and how it behaves for you as the pilot.. I hope that answers the question.. Time for another Mojito now.. :)
wings in so far...
As far as I'am concerned I would rathe have just a couple of ships being able to fly and land on planets.... which means our ships won't have wings all the way up to the Mining-Unis and Cruisers. They are much to heavy and way too big :) Another Thing is that the smaller classes are more dynamic in terms of movement and all that... it's an advantage to have a small ship in your colection to be able doing fast dog-fights and maybe reach destinations faster... or like it's "planned" to visit planets.
We don't wanna stick with one type of design.... that would be a bit borring :)
